Happy Birthday, Dear Maracas

Inspired by our freestyle jam in music class, I found some maracas for Calvin to use at home. Actually, I found three sets and took them to Montana for all of the children to enjoy.

In a beautiful demonstration of "what's mine is yours", Calvin and Chloe divided two of the sets, taking one of each for themselves, leaving one of each for the other.

These maracas remain a dear friend for Calvin even after we've come home. They go with him to daycare, to bed, and most definitely to Grandma's house.

A week after our time in Montana, we headed over the border and through the suburbs to Grandma's house to celebrate HER birthday. Along the way, Cal and I practiced singing "Happy Birthday" to Grandma. With all the practice we've had lately, he fell right in line.

Happy Birthday, dear Grandma .... We repeated the song a dozen times before he started to switch it up.

Happy Birthday, dear Mommy ....
Happy Birthday, dear Calvin ....
Happy Birthday, dear Pooh Bear ....

And then it happened. Calvin cracked his first joke:

Happy Birthday, dear maracas ... and then he laughed and laughed and laughed. Our little comedian.
